Implantology

Dental implantology is a dental discipline dedicated to the replacement of missing teeth through the surgical placement of a dental implant in the maxilla or mandible. Today, it is considered one of the most effective dental rehabilitation techniques.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are small screws made of titanium or other biocompatible materials (which are not rejected by our body’s immune system) that perform the function of the natural roots of the teeth we have lost.

Unlike conventional dentures, more properly called removable dental prostheses, of which implants can be considered an evolution, dental implants are “screwed” directly into the patient’s maxilla or mandible bone, achieving much better fixation.

On these “artificial tooth roots,” the dentist places a dental prosthesis, made of ceramic materials in a prosthetic laboratory, which mimics the aesthetics and physical properties of natural tooth enamel.

Implantology is the branch of dentistry dedicated to performing dental implant treatments. In recent years, dental implantology has experienced a real boom in our country, as in many cases it is the best treatment for missing teeth.
